Dynamic Frame (patented)
We meticulously designed 85 individual parts to work together seamlessly to ensure that it automatically shifts to fit every head perfectly, all while remaining rock solid when you need it most.
Dual Stage Liner (patented)
No two impacts are the same, so we use a combination of protection layers to keep you safer – from the little bumps to the big hits.
“It feels like a hug”. The OC is a self-tensioning element that ensures the A2 fits low, snug and comfortably all around the head.
Centre of Gravity (COG)/(Mass Centralisation)
The A1’s Dynamic Frame was designed to remain as close to your natural centre of gravity as possible. This mass centralisation makes the A2 feel like you’ve got nothing on at all, with its incredible fit, low swing weight and better impact performance.
Non-Newtonian Materials (patented)
We use non-Newtonian materials in our dual stage liner. Our NNM’s start soft, then harden dynamically under impact, offering superior impact protection across all impact levels.
Dynamic Frame (patented)
Our 2x patented dynamic frame is designed to articulate in 8 different areas to make seamless and natural adjustment to any headshape. The polycarbonate and ABS blend frame can expand more than 200% laterally and 130% longitudinally to ensure that it fits on every head perfectly.
Behind this lies a novel structure of carbon, rivets and slotted retention plates that enable this movement, while maintaining the ultimate integrity of the unit when you need it most – in an impact.
|Dual Stage Liner (patented)
A patented composite protection system which utilises multiple materials to absorb more force across a larger range of impacts. We know now that it’s not just the big TBI’s that are problematic for our brain, but also the sub-concussive impacts that cause CTE. Using a combination of firmer and more docile materials allows the A2 to protect more effectively through it’s depth of compression; softer like a pillow in small impacts and harder like a car’s crumple zone in big hits. This more progressive impact matrix gives the A2 a broad range of effectiveness on the hill.
The OC is a unique tension and cup system that is designed to assist in cupping one of the most unique points of any head – the Occipital Bump. Located where your spine enters the skull, every bump is different. It represents the area where you’d normally perch a hat or a beanie but is typically left alone by traditional helmets. We cup this tension member down underneath your occipital bump, causing the entire unit to sit lower, closer and more comfortably to your head. A tester said it ‘feels like a hug’, and that’s the work of the dynamic frame and OC working together seamlessly.
|Centre of Gravity (COG)/(Mass Centralisation)
The A1’s unique Dynamic Frame strives to have the lowest centre of gravity in the market. Every millimetre that the A1 sits closer to your head is less torque applied to your head; from swing weight, neck stability and impact safety. The mass centralisation of the A1 is designed to have the A1 fit close and low to promote safety and comfort in all situationsAs can be seen from the formula for torque:
torque = m*a*r
m*a is used to find force
r is radius – the distance between your head and the extremity of your helmet
In this equation, you can see that every extra millimetre that a helmet sits away from your head, by way of neck adjuster, soft foam passing or poor fit, multiplying the torque applied to your skull and neck, and ultimately your brain.
Further to this, a bodies’ moment of inertia describes it’s tendency to resist changes in it’s rotational motion. Similar to your head hitting an object at an angle; the formula describes the radius from centre is a square, increasing aggressively as radius increases.
I = Mass * Radius^2
It achieves this by eliminating useless soft foam and unnecessary ‘flashy’ bits like mechanical tension systems and heavy ear cups found in traditional helmets and designed them better. We designed the A2 to work like a race car seat – you don’t need excessive padding if it moulds to your shape perfectly.
|Non-Newtonian Materials (patented)
Our dual-stage liner utilises shear-thickening non-Newtonian PU foams that are naturally soft, but harden instantly in response to impact, delivering a dynamic foam hardness that intelligently protects from small impacts to big hits.
